Free Rain Adventures
about camp
Free Rain Adventures is a small summer camp that is returning for it's fifth year. We’re located in SW Portland and travel daily to nearby state parks, lakes, forests, rivers, and pools. Some of our favorite spots to explore are Milo McIver State Park, Elk Rock, Mary S. Young, and Oxbow Park.
In addition to exploring, we love neighborhood parks to play games like capture the flag, sardines, and water play. We build forts, play with walkie talkies, and enjoy an occasional baseball or kickball game.

Camp is geared for active kids entering 4th-7th grade. Hours are 8am-5pm daily. Most trips depart at 9:30am and return by 4:00pm. Weekly schedules are sent out the Friday before and are created with input from the kids. Daily snacks are provided.
About me
I created camp to integrate my favorite aspects of my 15+ years experience leading camps and outdoor recreation programming. Over the years I've learned that kids thrive in environments with minimal transitions and time to engage in deeper levels of play. I implement choice driven programming by giving kids great resources and options to draw from. My main goal of camp is to build awareness, confidence, and friendship.
As a south side Chicago native, I moved to SW Portland in 2008 after studying recreation and park administration, specifically in outdoor recreation management and fell in love with the area. In addition to camp, I coach two club volleyball teams for Stumptown VB club, coordinate the Well's PIL volleyball league, as well as help coach my son's little league baseball team.
I enjoy disc golf, White Sox baseball, climbing, and all things active and outdoors with my family.
